In the land of colorful desert of Rajasthan, there is much more to explore besides the historical forts and palaces exciting camel safaris. As the story goes, when the sage Vashishtha cow Nandini was trapped in a deep gorge, Lord Siva sent the current divine "Saraswati" to help flood the gorge so that the cow could float. Sage Vashishtha asked the youngest son of Himalaya to fill the gap of permanently. He did the same with the help of Arbuda, the mighty snake, after the place was called "Monte Arbuda" (which was later renamed Mount Abu).
In the early part of the Chauhan kingdom, Mount Abu served as a summer resort of the Rajput kings, and the British.
